November 11th, 2025: (i2)Insights on Embodied & Arts-Based Practices

Click here to view the second episode of our 2025-2026 webinar series, “Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Integration and Implementation (i2Insights) Blog & Repository.”

In this session, Jillian Student, knowledge integrator and researcher at Wageningen University and Research, and Veronica Dittman Stanich, Research Program Manager for the Alliance for the Arts in Research Universities (a2ru), shared their creative approaches to using embodied and arts-based practices to bridge different forms of knowledge and generate new insights in workshops and conferences.

Drawing on their respective i2Insights posts - “Not just in our heads: Embodied and creative practices for creating connection” and “Using the arts to flip understanding: An arts intervention for non-arts researchers” - Dr. Dittman Stanich discussed a structured arts-based workshop designed to give non-arts researchers new perspective on their work (helping them move past a “stuck place”), while Dr. Student highlighted the use of creative and embodied methods to support co-creation at the 2023 Transdisciplinary Research, Education and Dialogue (TRED) conference.

After their presentations, the pair engaged first in conversation with one another and then with the INTEREACH community. The discussion touched on managing participant expectations, helping people transition out of their comfort zones, and considering how these creative approaches might be applied within research teams.

Thanks to Professor Gabriele Bammer for hosting INTEREACH webinar recordings on the Integration and Implementation Sciences (i2S) YouTube channel, i2S-Talks.
